About Alison

Hi, I’m Alison! I’m also terrible at writing about myself, so here are the standard facts: I was born and raised in New Jersey, and attended University of the Arts in Philadelphia where I earned a BFA in photography in 2006. After a whole lot of assisting, I made my freelance career official by founding Alison Dunlap Photography in 2009. But instead of blandly droning on about myself, I decided it might be more fun to google “first date questions” and see :

What are you kind of obsessed with these days?

I love, love, love, dark and irreverent podcasts like Last Podcast on the Left, Sinisterhood, and Swindled. They’re a lifesaver when passing hours of time in front of the computer.

If you could go back in time as an observer, no one could see you, and you couldn’t interact with anything, when would you want to go back to?

I’ve always wanted to observe my parents when they were in high school… I’d probably be scarred for life by it, but I’m morbidly curious nonetheless.

What do you never get tired of?

Being around animals, watching my children learn something new… also, fries.

What really cheesy song do you love?

I’m all about any trashy/screamy 80s love ballad. Mr. Big’s “To Be With You”, Bon Jovi’s “I’ll Be There For You”, and anything and everything out of Steven Tyler’s giant national treasure of a mouth.

What fact floored you when you heard it?

Did you know that Dolly Parton wrote I Will Always Love You AND Jolene ON THE SAME DAY?? Meanwhile I feel deeply accomplished if all the socks in the laundry match up with no stragglers.

Who are your kind of people?

Ooh, great question… Those who are caregivers, nurturers, and helpers by nature. Those who leave people, places, and things better than they’ve found it. Those who genuinely care about an issue even when (and especially when) its ill effects don’t directly impact them. Those who are kind to animals and children when no one is looking.
